IT was a strange changeover from playing in the brass band at the Bishopthorpe Road street party, to watching York Symphony Orchestra at the Lyon’s concert hall three days later.
Tchaikovsky’s first piano concerto was the piece I loved the most. Played by Romanian-born Alexandra Dariesco, the lovely strident melodies the composer wrote should be recommended by doctors to lift the mood of our pill-popping generation and save a fortune for the NHS.
