A JUDGE has told a robber who stole £200 from Coral bookmakers in Clifton Green, York, he will almost certainly be jailed when he next appears at court.

David Martin Rocks, 27, of Burdyke Avenue in Clifton, York, pleaded guilty to the robbery on April 1 of this year at York Crown Court yesterday.

Ordering reports to be written before sentencing on August 10, Judge Martin Bethel QC told Rocks: “You have been sensible to enter this plea of guilty. You must remain in custody, but although I am adjourning for a report I am not making you any promises about the sentence you will receive, indeed this was a serious offence and in all probability you will be sent to prison.”
