Unbeaten Fulford need just one more point to ensure promotion from division two of the IT Sports Mixed Tennis League and three points to take the title after they beat closest rivals Rufforth.

They were led by top scorers Sean Evans and Julie Reilly who were well supported by Dave Bradley and Jackie Heels.

The second place is up for grabs with Alan Partington and Rhian Scott inspiring Copmanthorpe to victory at Wigginton.

Dunnington added another win to close in on the division one title for the first time after a sound team performance in which top scorers David Walton and Katie Milne finished with an 11-1 win.

Jamie Perkins and Sarah Woon were unbeaten as they had a good win at Fulford to ease clear of the relegation zone.

Dunnington are still unbeaten in division three after beating Wilberfoss, just one point ahead of Sutton-on-Derwent who welcomed back Val French in their win at promotion rivals Bishopthorpe.

The final match in division five between the top two teams – Cliffe and David Lloyd – could decide the title.

Cliffe edged past David Lloyd seconds and Castlegarth ended Lloyd’s promotion hopes with a two-game win.

Dunnington moved out of the relegation places with two wins.

After beating Sutton-on-Derwent, an unbeaten Matthew Shepherd and Charlotte Mitchell ensured the points at York.

Rowntree Park moved to the top of division six after New Earswick could not beat James Chantry and Sandra Robinson.

Only games difference separates the next three teams as Wilberfoss’s Dan Poole and Gerry Screeton dented Tollerton, who then bounced back at Appleton Roebuck.

Unbeaten Dave and Angie Pearson could not stop Wigginton taking the win at Alne to remain on course for the division seven silverware.

Wistow moved into second place with wins against Fulford, while Neil Richardson and Alison Beal were too good for Sutton-on-Derwent.

The battle for the division nine crown – and relegation – looks to be going down to the final week.

Leaders Tollerton were beaten by rivals Cliffe, while Appleton Roebuck ended Riccall’s hopes and pushed them into a relegation battle with Heworth, who lost to Riccall.

Fulford had a much-needed win but were unable to beat Strensall’s James Whitwell and Sue Tymon.
