Updated: TWO pedestrians were taken to hospital after colliding with a van as they crossed a York road.

Four police vans and two ambulances were sent to the scene of the crash, which happened shortly before 5pm yesterday on the junction of Tang Hall Lane and Hull Road.

A 19-year-old woman suffered minor injuries and a 20-year-old man suffered more serious injuries to his legs.

They were both taken to York Hospital via ambulance.

The male driver of the van was uninjured in the collision.

Police at the scene of the crash said they were called to the incident at 4.54pm.

They said the man and woman were knocked down as they crossed over the road beside the exit point of the David Lloyd Gym.

They said investigations had begun.

Meanwhile, in Barff Lane, in Brayton, near Selby, a biker was taken to hospital after colliding with an MG car at about 6pm last night.

His injuries were not thought to be life-threatening and the road was blocked, but not closed, for some time after.
