DESPITE a wild wind rippling around the course of the Kilburn 7 Road Race, Thirsk and Sowerby Harrier Gary Dunn finished second in 38 minutes and 52 seconds.

Club-mate Walter Busuttil, training for triathlons, came 12th in 44-05 and won the prize for the firstst M45, with Julian Norton 17th in 45-00. Keziah Paxton was 54th, and fifth woman home, in 49-56.

Other Thirsk times were: Paul Atkinson 57th 50-09, Lorraine Hiles 73rd, and first F45, 51-34, Nicola Booth 94th 53-57, Kenny Rae 117th 55-21, Geoff Bullock 142nd 57-13, Steve Billings 149th 57-44, Fiona Needham 154th 58-11, Steve Booth 176th 59-43, David Goddard 207th 63-26, Ian Codling 237th 66-11, Sue Rae 285th 73-18, Phillip Craig 289th 74-16, Pam Sherlock 306th 81-54 and Marian Codling 307th 82-06.

Meanwhile, Alan Harman tested his recovery from injury by tackling the testing Eccup 10, taking in land at Eccup reservoir. He finished 288th out of 536 runners in 85-02.
