Like AP Cox (End is nigh, Letters, Monday, July 12) I can also see my 50-plus years of supporting City through thick and thin ending, albeit for differing reasons.

I used to support the Wasps and City, but the move from Clarence Street to Ryedale brought an end to my support of the rugby after one season.

Supporters will still go through the turnstiles irrespective of the performances on the pitch, but there are some factors that cannot be accepted.

Has anybody consulted the supporters for what they want? I think not.

I would think 50 per cent of City’s supporters prefer to stand up and I would estimate a similar figure for the Knights, so why are we going for an all-seater stadium?

I have to endure sitting to watch a game on City’s annual trip to Wembley, but I will not be press-ganged into this for a full season. Will the new stadium have free parking for 1,000 cars? I suspect not.

Let us hope this project goes the way of Hungate and the many others that our revered council has submitted in the past.
