CONSERVATIVE MP Ken Clarke is right to want to greatly reduce the number of short prison sentences, but wrong to want to put those criminals out in the community.
Most of the UK public wants many more prisons built and offenders locked away for far longer times.
The Government’s main job is to protect its citizens, not to try and save money by reducing the number of bad people in jail.
