A TRADITIONAL village fayre, which has been reinvigorated by local residents, has lined up an action-packed few days of events.

A group of volunteers brought the Dunnington Playing Fields Fayre back to its former glory four years ago, after 15 years of having no fayre in the village.

Kat Robertson, one of the organisers, said it regularly attracted more than 2,000 people.

Visitors will have the chance to see birds of prey, a mountain bike stunt display team, cheerleading, fencing, terrier racing and go on miniature train rides, followed by a live performance by five-piece Leeds band The White Keys.

The event takes place on Saturday, July 24, from 11am to 4pm There are a number of events preceding the fayre, including a family disco and summer barbecue on Friday, July 23.

On Wednesday, July 21, a comedy night headlined by Alun Cochrane, who has appeared on Michael McIntyre’s Comedy Roadshow, 8 out of 10 Cats and Mock the Week, will take place in the marquee at Dunnington Playing Fields.

On Thursday, July 22, the 13-piece New York Dance Band will perform swing at a wartime- themed supper event in the marquee, where dancers could also win a Best Dressed competition.
