SCOTT Burrell will target a high five in the 43rd York Open Bowls Tournament which rolls from July 26 to July 31.

Burrell’s aim will be on a fifth junior singles crown after dropping out last year because of other commitments in the men’s pairs and mixed pairs.

While entries are slightly down from last year, the quality is guaranteed with Melanie Brooke defending her ladies singles title, Burrell and Zoe Eagles the mixed pairs, and Burrell and Josh Cahill the men’s pairs.

However, Eric Wilkinson will not be able to defend his men’s singles crown due to hospital treatment.

The tournament, which will be played at Clarence Gardens, West Park and Glen Gardens, will be opened on July 26 by the Lord Mayor of York Coun Mrs Susan Galloway.

The tournament programme:

Monday, July 26: mixed pairs (at Clarence Gardens and Glen Gardens) 10am, 1pm and 5pm.
