GOLFERS raised more than £7,000 when they teed off at a fundraising event for a York cancer charity.
York Golf Club played host to 21 teams at the annual golfing challenge laid down by York Against Cancer.
This year, for the first time, competitors had the chance to win a prize by seeing who could get their ball closest to the club pro’s after teeing off.
Event organiser Ralph Magee said: “We are delighted Garbutt & Elliott sponsored this event again this year.
“Without such support this event would not be as successful or raise the much-needed funds to provide cancer services to patients in our local area.”
