The funeral has taken place of a former Selby area village police officer.
Jim Blowers died last week, aged 86. Villagers and former police colleagues attended the service at the village church in Barlow where he was a village bobby for 14 years.
Mr Blowers joined the police force after service in the army with the Horse Guards. He was on duty at several big occasions including the Opening of Parliament, the Queen’s wedding and the Investiture of Prince Charles at Caernarvon Castle. He retired in 1976 after 30 years service as a police officer and later worked as a security officer at Drax Power Station.
