THREE people have been arrested after football hooligans sparked chaos in York City centre.
Up to 50 Hull City fans threw bottles into St Helen’s Square and then took over Lendal Cellars on Saturday morning, prior to a friendly match against York City.
The area was sealed off, trapping shoppers and diners in local shops and restaurants, before dozens of police officers in full riot gear stormed the pub.
Fans were later marched across Lendal Bridge to the station, and sent on a train back to Hull, accompanied by police to ensure there was no more trouble.
Police said two men from Hull and one from York were arrested for disorder offences.
