ATTENDANCE figures at this year’s Great Yorkshire Show have beaten last year’s total and were among the highest in the event’s history.

Over the three days, 131,382 people attended the show, representing a rise for the fourth consecutive year.

The record stands at 135,111 from 2006.

Show director Bill Cowling said: “This has been one of the finest Great Yorkshire Shows I can remember.

The atmosphere has been tremendous, the standard of entries across the competitive classes has been outstanding, and we have achieved another superb attendance figure.

“Looking at the farming industry as a whole, there’s certainly a growing confidence, and as one of the UK’s top three agricultural shows, it is our responsibility to help foster that confidence.

“We’re already looking forward to our autumn event, Countryside Live.”
