HUNDREDS of worshippers took their praise to the streets for an open-air service on the Millennium Bridge, hosted by the Archbishop of York, Dr John Sentamu.
The event, organised by Churches Together in south west York, marked the tenth anniversary of the start of Praise By The Bridge events.
These are held beside the Millennium Bridge on the third Sunday afternoon of the month from April to September.
Church-goers swapped their pews for the pavement for yesterday’s service, which saw Dr Sentamu travel along the River Ouse by barge from Bishopthorpe Palace to the bridge.
Music was provided by the York Railway Institute Brass Band, the Pantastic Pan Band from Westfield Primary School, Acomb, and a Gospel group.
