YORK MP Hugh Bayley has given the thumbs-up to the new £1.3 million home of a ready-mix concrete plant.
Cemex UK’s new site at Hazel Court, in James Street, is five times the size of its previous site in Leeman Road, giving the company room for future expansion.
Mr Bayley said: “Cemex would not have built this new plant if they were not confident that companies in York will continue to build and expand their premises. We have been fortunate to buck the trend by continuing to win new investment in York during the economic downturn. This is a vote of confidence in York.
“Builders need good-quality materials and the investment in the new factory by Cemex should help to secure jobs and career opportunities for local people.”
