A ROBBER pushed a man from his motorbike before riding off on it, police have said.

The robbery happened at about 11.25pm on Friday night.

The 19-year-old owner of the motorbike was riding along Acomb Road close to the junction with Braeside Gardens, in Holgate, York, when he was pushed from his machine.

The thief then stole the motorbike and made off along Moorgate. It was found burned out in Bouthwaite Drive a short time later.

DC Julie Carter, of York CID, said: “We are appealing for anyone who has any information about this incident to come forward. In particular a man walking his dog spoke to the victim after the incident and could hold information vital to the inquiry.

“We would also like to hear from anyone who may have seen a man riding a motorcycle without a helmet in the area at the time.”

The suspect is described as white, aged between 18 and 20 years old, about 6ft tall with a medium build. He was wearing a dark-grey hooded top with the hood pulled up.

Anyone with any information that could help the police with their enquiries is urged to phone DC Julie Carter, of York CID, on 0856 6060247.
