SELBY Community Primary pupils have launched the school’s new radio station.
Star Radio will initially broadcast on the school intranet and also aid podcasting of key events on the school website.
The new station has been planned for about a year, but the school’s dream became a reality after receiving a £7,500 National Lottery Grant, which allowed the new studios to be installed a couple of months ago.
The logo for the station was designed by two of the children and has since been made into large prints displayed around the school. The children have also worked on the wording and had jingles for the station sung and produced by TM Studios in America.
They have witnessed the journey from plans on paper to reality and on the school celebrated the launch with a day of music.
The children are still receiving radio training and thinking about the programmes they would like to produce and present to the school community.
The launch day included a mini-concert by pupils ahead of a visit from new boy band Inju5tice.
