The Lord Mayor of York, Councillor Susan Galloway, welcomed more than 50 guests to the city this week.
Members of the Munster-York Association (or Partnershafts-verein, in German) met Coun Galloway and the Sheriff of York, Coun Richard Watson, during their annual visit to York on Monday.
Juliane Schultz, chair of the association, and fellow committee members and residents of the city of Munster were all invited to attend a special guided tour of the Mansion House.
The Lord Mayor and Sheriff welcomed the group to the Georgian house, along with a group of philatelists from Munster, who were in York to coincide with a stamp fair on Knavesmire.
The group will be in York all this week and will be visiting a number of attractions both in the city and the region.
York has been twinned with Munster since 1957 and there have been many visits back and forth, both official and those of residents and friends from the two cities.
