A SENIOR council officer has given reassurance that plans to develop the York North West site as an eco-community are still on track, despite funding cutbacks.
David Caulfield, head of city development at City of York Council, said work was still continuing on the scheme for the former British Sugar site, off Boroughbridge Road, which would deliver a sustainable new community of outstanding quality and design. He confirmed that this and three other eco-schemes in the Leeds city region had been allocated only half of the originally proposed £1.2 million for 2010/2011, because of wider public spending cuts nationally.
