DAVID Cameron is asking the public to save money at a local level. We have now found a way of wasting money at a local level.
Last week we received the July leaflet for Your Ward – Acomb through our letterbox.
Imagine our surprise when we received the identical eight-page leaflet through the post a day later.
Unbelievably we then received our third copy, again by post, on Saturday morning.
Both sent first class!
While we understand the importance of local authorities consulting and informing residents, when you add up the cost of printing and distribution, to deliver this leaflet three times is beyond comprehension. We wonder how many other people apart from our immediate neighbourhood have received multiple copies?
Ann and Mike Pye, Church Gate, York.
Sally Burns, director of communities and neighbourhoods, said: “We are looking into this incident. Clearly it is not acceptable to receive a number of copies in this way. Our aim is to deliver one copy in the most timely and cost effective way possible. I would like to thank Mr and Mrs Pye for bringing this to my attention. We are reviewing the matter and will act on our findings in order to avoid any similar occurrences.”
