STAFF from a York pub who completed a 1,200-mile sponsored cycle raised £300 towards a charity for wounded soldiers.
The bar staff, from Yates’s Wine Lodge, cycled the equivalent of Land’s End to John O’Groats and back again, in support of the British Limbless Ex-Servicemen’s Association.
Brian Meillam, left, from York Rugby League Ex-Players’ Association, presented the cheque to Lance Corporal James Marsh, right, who was injured in a bomb blast in Afghanistan last year, and was one of a team of soldiers who took the trip for real.
Captain Pete Graham, who led the team, said: “We’ve raised more than £25,000 for the cause so far, and really appreciate the Yates’s staff joining in.”
