HUNDREDS of past and present pupils turned out for a gala day to celebrate Tadcaster Grammar School’s golden anniversary of being on the site at Toulston.
The youngsters had held a week of events to mark the milestone, including a day in which the school went back in time to 1960.
Officially opened by the Mayor of Tadcaster, Coun Greg Lodge, the gala featured barber shop singers, birds of prey, face-painting, a martial arts display, dancers and the school’s big band.
Head teacher Geoff Mitchell thanked event organiser Tracey Ferguson, chairman of the Parents’ Association, and those who supported the event.
