FIRST Group raises bus fares again, citing increased costs, despite criticism over numerous fare hikes and poor punctuality.
However, all buses in the First fleet are now fitted with a vehicle efficiency technology system called Drivegreen, which reduces fuel consumption by ten per cent.
Cash prizes are paid to drivers at each depot who come top of the league in driving efficiency.
A spokesman for First Group has said: “Financially the system paid for itself within two years and is now saving us money.”
How about passing on some of these savings to the customers of First instead of raising the fares again?
