Acomb’s Steve Atkin (2 x 20 & 2 x 180), Keith Turner (109 c/o for 18) and Jack White (21) helped push unbeaten St Paul’s all the way in the John Smith’s Men’s Darts League.

But then Martyn Turner (18, 19), Chris Thompson (180 for 18), Paul Botterill (19 and 180) and Paul Cropper (13, 18) turned up the heat for St Paul’s, whose father and son combination of Chris and Adam Thompson struck to secure a 6-4 win.

Heath Scaife (20), Shaun Day (21), John Mooring (180 for 13), Dave Gibbons (19) and Mark Jones (180) saw Shepherds return to winning ways with an 8-2 win over Crescent ‘A’ whose best was Paul Keers (16).

Mitre’s Rich Corner (18, 20), John Quantock (13, 17), Pip Hair (14) and Lutz Leutzsch (180) played well in a 7-3 win over Cueball, whose best were Matt Wilson (18) and Jim Cavanagh (19).

In division two, Graham Knight (23) and Simon Lansbury (20) helped Tang Hall to an excellent 9-1 win over second-placed Flag, whose Graham Hudson sampled a lone success.

In division three, Turf took advantage of a free week for leaders Ainsty.

Dave Hannigan (15) helped them to an 8-2 victory over Derwent to take them to the top.
