FUNDRAISERS who completed a sponsored bike ride were presented with a cheque for £300 towards their total from a former York rugby league player.
Brian Meillam presented the cheque on behalf of York Rugby League Ex-Players Association to Lance Corporal James Marsh in support of the British Limbless Ex-Servicemen’s Association (BLESMA).
LCpl Marsh was injured in a bomb blast in Afghanistan last year, and cycled with a team of his colleagues from Land’s End to John O’Groats. Staff from Yates’s Wine Lodge in York cycled twice the equivalent distance on exercise bikes in the pub, and along with the latest donation from Mr Meillam, have helped raise the total fund to over £25,000.
