Nicola Gibson was furious because her son would have to wait 60 minutes for a “999 taxi” because life-or-death emergencies took priority (999 delay agony of broken wrists boy, The Press, July 22).
I had a major heart attack and was thankful for the emergency sevice and the in-ambulance paramedic.
When I had a very badly broken wrist I couldn’t drive myself, so I asked a neighbour to take me to A&E.
Congratulations to the operative who arranged a “taxi ambulance” rather than an emergency one, and well done the spokesperson for keeping their cool and not telling Miss Gibson to get real. E Astley, Springbank Avenue, Dunnington, York.
