UNBEATEN Fulford are the first side to clinch a title in the IT Sports Mixed Doubles Tennis League.

They secured the division two crown after winning their latest match against Wigginton, thanks to Nigel Skelton and Jill McCreedy finishing with an 11-1 win.

Rufforth are closing in on second place after a nail-biting win at Rowntree Park, where Patrick Evans and Catherine Baker won their final rubber 10-2.

Poppleton renewed their challenge as John Anderson and Hilary Spencer claimed two 12-0 wins against Stillington.

Dunnington maintained their quest for the division one title with a win at Fulford.

Only York are able to stop them after Howard Pallister and Wendy Stirke were their match-winners against Castlegarth.

Tollerton wrapped up the division nine title with a hard-fought win against Fulford.

Cliffe beat Strensall, but they were unable to topple Chris Pillai and Sue Tymon.

In division 11, Stamford Bridge suffered their first defeat of the season as they went down to Bubwith by two games.

Bubwith then lost to Bishopthorpe, who had 30 games from Jamie Winspear and Ellie Page.

Poppleton are the only team who can deny Bridge the title after winning their last two matches against Appleton Roebuck and Bishopthorpe.
