SOUTH Bank beat St Clement’s ‘B’ in their last game to clinch the York CIU Bowls Afternoon League title.
The new champions looked to have the game sewn up when leading 13-2 after ten ends against their championship rivals.
St Clement’s scored a five to narrow the margin, but South Bank bagged the next three ends to re-establish their lead.
Saints clawed back eight shots over the next three ends and laid four on the last end, but South Bank skip Kev Potter gained fourth place with his last wood to secure the win.
The draw for the semi-finals of the Heineken UK John Smith’s Triples have been made.
In the Cup competition, Railway Institute will meet South Bank for the right to face St Clement’s ‘B’ in the final. Saints beat Burton Lane ‘B’.
