NINE senior managerial posts at East Riding of Yorkshire Council are to be scrapped to save more than £500,000 a year.
The authority has confirmed the posts will be shed as it looks to cut its overall spending this year by £7.5 million.
The most senior role to be lost is that of the director of energy from waste, with the heads of community and sustainable development, community engagement and Building Schools for the Future also being cut together with five other posts.
Council leader Stephen Parnaby said: "This is a step in the right direction and will help achieve the financial savings I announced at a full council meeting last month.
"The council's senior management costs are already relatively low and we will continue to keep these under review."
The director of energy from waste role was split between East Riding of Yorkshire and Hull City Councils and will save each authority £79,000 a year. The Building Schools for the Future director's post cost £105,000 a year and the head of community engagement cost nual £67,000.
Another £30,000 in associated administrative costs will also be saved through the move. The authority has said it is facing budget reductions of £30 million over the next three to four years.
