YORK beat Sheriff Hutton Bridge by 35 runs to book their place in the Hirepoint Plant & Tool Hire Under-13s Cup.

York batted first in the semi-final and totalled 71-7, with only Cameron Lynde (24) and Andrew Brewster (12) coming to terms with a slow pitch.

Their score looked below par, but Bridge were bowled out for 36, with Ben Williams taking 3-8 and Joe Taylor 2-7, while Lynde and Matthew Maltby claimed a wicket apiece. After losing the Championship final, there was some consolation for Osbaldwick as they beat Acomb in the final of the Hirepoint Plant & Tool Hire U13s Plate.

Osbaldwick posted an impressive total of 116-6, thanks to Freddie Parry (17), Jonny Rawsthorne (31no) and Connor O’Dea (14). Acomb’s Alex Taylor took two wickets.

Acomb’s reply got off to a bad start with a run out in the first over and, despite eight from Alex Taylor, they subsided to 44 all out. Parry took three wickets.

Meanwhile, Thixendale and Londesborough Park are the latest two teams to make it through the preliminary round of the six-a-side competition.

The competition continues tomorrow at the Clifton Park base of York and Clifton Alliance.
