ALL-CONQUERING York ‘A’ lifted the York & District Junior Cricket Association Under-11s League Championship for the fifth time in six years.

The Clifton Park youngsters totalled 246-6 in their final clash at Londesborough Park with previously unbeaten Ovington ‘A’, who could only manage 209 in reply.

York skipper Cameron Burdass made 17, while Ovington pair Jack Smith and William Osbourne both returned figures of 3-10.

Although Jonathan Soutch made eight and Leo Hunter 11, the Ovington run chase self-destructed with five run-outs.

Will Andrew took 2-10 and man-of-the-match Burdass claimed 4-11 from three overs.

In the play-off semi-finals, York (249) had beaten Acomb ‘A’ (241), with Connor Kirby hitting 12 and Burdass and Tom Backhouse claiming two wickets apiece.

Ovington (281) made it through to the final at the expense of Dunnington ‘A’ (234).

Spinner Charlie Buckley took 2-11 for Ovington, while Ralph Sinclair got 2-18 and Jack Smith claimed 2-12. There were also wickets for Jacob Fleat, Olly Finch and Charlie Power.

Skipper Matty Roberts hit 18 runs, while Smith, Fleat and Leo Hunter all made double figures.

Keon Williams top-scored for Dunnington with 13.

In a delayed Zone ‘C’ clash, Stamford Bridge (230) beat Heworth ‘B’ (208).

Stamford’s David Fitzgerald took 3-4 and Thomas Fitzgerald 2-6, while Bill Oldfield made 18.

Heworth’s Ryan Whitley took 3-4 and made 12 not out. Tommy Pearson claimed 2-8 and Macey Rollins 2-8, while Fergus McAughtrie hit ten.
