CHILDREN attending an activities summer camp in York have been given a flavour of Spain at a fiesta-themed day.
Following the country’s win at the World Cup and spaniard Alberto Contador’s victory in the Tour de France, King’s Foundation, a charity dedicated to developing children through sport, ran the event as part of its summer holiday sessions at York College.
Lucy Roberts, of King’s Foundation, said: “Sport is an excellent way for children to develop important values such as teamwork, cooperation and obeying rules and regulations.
“The camps are also great for children to make new friends over the school holidays, to learn to get along with different people, and to develop physically and emotionally.”
At the York camp, children take part in a variety of activities including tennis, cricket, street-dance, gymnastics and craft-making.
