THE Yorkshire Air Museum’s Wings And Wheels show proved a hit over the weekend with displays both on the ground and in the air.

The Elvington attraction pulled in the crowds with the first fast taxi run of the museum’s latest acquisition, the Nimrod MR2.

This was seen roaring down the runway, along with the Victor V Bomber and the East Yorkshire-built Blackburn Buccaneer.

Other thrills included Big Pete’s Monster Truck, the second round of the UK Freestyle Stunt Motorcycle Wheelie Championships and the spectacular flame-throwing Pyromaniac Jet Quad.

There were also displays in the sky by, among others, a Jet Provost, Douglas Sky Raider and a Seafire, which was the naval version of the Spitfire.
