AFTER the glamour of York Racecourse’s John Smith’s Cup and the vibrancy of its Music Showacase with Madness and stars from the X-Factor, the venue is geared up for a different style of event.
The racecourse expects to attract an audience of thousands to The 11th Press Family Raceday on Sunday, September 5.
The popular annual event is a chance for those who do not regularly attend racing to enjoy the course’s special ambience, which will hold its first ever pony race.
Children can also get closer to the action, touching the horses and silks in Racehorse Corner.
Special guests, TV characters Peppa Pig and George, will again attend the event and parents can enjoy the seven thoroughbred races, while children are entertained with bouncy castles, face painting and free ice-cream.
Tickets for the event are available by phoning the course on 01904 620911 or via the website, yorkracecourse.co.uk
Under-16s go free if accompanied by an adult. An adult ticket to the county stand costs £24, grandstand and paddock £13 and course enclosure £6, with reduced prices for group and advanced bookings and concessions.
The dress code for the county stand is relaxed, so men are not required to wear a jacket, collar and tie.
Gates open at 11.15am, first race at 2pm, last race 5.20pm.
