St Leonard’s Hospice has launched a new 2011 calendar using old photographs of York.

Photographs in the calendar date from the 1850s to the 1940s and include images of York Racecourse, swimmers in the River Foss at Yearsley Bridge and schoolboys sitting at York Minster in the 1860s.

The edges of the old photographs are perforated so they can also be used as postcards.

The calendars cost £3.50 and are available from St Leonard’s Hospice shops in Haxby, Pocklington, Acomb, Tang Hall, Scarcroft Road, the Hospice reception on Tadcaster Road and will soon be available from the new Hospice shop in Selby which opens later this month.

This is the ninth time that the Hospice has used old photographs of the city to create the York Past calendar. Each year it has been a huge hit with York residents and tourists.
