IN The Yorkshire Day supplement of July 31, question 28 of the Yorkshire quiz asked for the year York City got to the FA Cup semi-final; the answer given was 1965. Wrong.
I remember it well, for I still have my ticket and my rosette from the day. The date was Saturday, March, 26, 1955. I was 13 at the time. I stood behind one of the goals, it poured down for all of the game, the red and white paint in my home-made top hat ran down my face and on to my shirt and vest. But who cared? It was a great day except “we wuz robbed”.
