A PHARMACIST faces sentencing for a series of offences involving illegal and prescription drugs including a form of heroin.

Stephen Morrison, 26, was working at Hargraves’ Chemists in Front Street, Acomb, when police uncovered his illegal stash of drugs.

In addition, he stole electrical equipment and aftershave worth £7,500 between December 1 and January 5 from the shop and an unknown amount of cash over a 14-month period between October 25, 2008, and December 26, 2009. He also falsified the shop till account over the same 14-month period.

He denied dealing in drugs.

York magistrates committed Morrison, of Newlands Road, Bishopthorpe, to the city’s crown court to stand trial on four charges and to be sentenced for 11 more.

He faces a further charge of driving on January 5 this year on Foss Islands Road while under the influence of drugs to which he has yet to plea.

Morrison was released on unconditional bail and will appear before the upper court on September 10.

The charges he denies are: possessing cocaine, possessing 620 tablets of methandienone, a Class C drug, with intent to supply them to others, both on January 5, 2010 and stealing testosterone, a Class C drug, and codeine, a Class B drug, both between October 25, 2008, and December 26, 2009.

He admits illegally possessing on January 5, 2010 tablets of diazepam, three vials of somatropin, six tablets of temazepam, 201g of hydroxyl-n-butyric acid, one tablet of lormetazepam, 17 tablets of lorazepam, all Class C drugs, 15 tablets of morphine, the prescription form of heroin, and cannabis, all committed on January 5, 2010.

He pleaded guilty to two charges of theft and one of false accounting.
