Twelve children from Chernobyl in the Ukraine are the guests of Selby area families in a month-long visit to the area.
The six boys and six girls are from the area devastated by the world’s worst nuclear plant disaster in 1986.
Children from Chernobyl have been visiting the Selby area for the past 15 years.
During their visit they will visit various places of interest and entertainment. Margaret Miles, co-organiser, said: “The children are part of a larger group visiting the UK and the clean air, space and uncontaminated food makes the visit very important to them.”
