A cutting conversation in our house this week followed my mentioning the fact that this was National Love Your Bed Week.

“Blimey,” my wife replied, “every week is love your bed week in your world.” (In case you are getting the wrong idea she was implying that I sleep a lot).

Ah, well, Rip Van Winkle that I am, I have to confess to loving a lie-in. Which is why I was thrilled to be informed of aforementioned Love Your Bed Week.

The delightful news came in a press release from Persimmon. Never a team to miss a trick, their marketing people picked up on the fact that this was the ideal time to launch a rewards package for people buying into their development at Kings Court in Market Weighton.

And, cannily, they have teamed up with Next to come up with a unique promotion. If buyers reserve one of the brand-new three-storey Chester- style homes at Kings Court between August 2 and August 8 (better get down there soon) they will receive a voucher worth £1,000 to be spent on bedroom furniture or accessories at Next.

The bedroom, they tell us (and here they are preaching to the converted) is one of the most important parts of your home – an area where you can relax, recuperate and recharge your batteries after a late night (probable in my case) or early morning start (highly unlikely).

However, they go on to say, if you’re tired of your existing bedroom and the décor and furniture are giving you nightmares rather than sweet dreams then a visit to Kings Court is a must.

“Already a popular development, located close to the town centre and with excellent commuter links, Persimmon believe the project is set to become even more popular following the launch of its new ‘dream’ incentive,” Persimmon predict.

The Chester house, a three-storey home, is apparently proving particularly popular amongst shift workers - as the layout style enables people to sleep peacefully on the second floor, while life can go on as usual in the rest of the house.

It is a semi-detached with four bedrooms, the large master bedroom boasting an en suite, a family bathroom, a spacious lounge, open plan kitchen diner, cloakroom and integrated garage.

Andrew Bowes, managing director for Persimmon Homes Yorkshire, said: “For many people, the advantage of buying a new home is that you don’t inherit somebody else’s taste in décor and can really put your own stamp on the design. By partnering with Next we are enabling customers to style their bedrooms with their extensive range of bedroom furniture, bed linen and bed throws, ensuring they can create the perfect environment to relax in.”

The Chester house style is currently available at Kings Court, off Sancton Road, Market Weighton, for just £176,999.
