The Lord Mayor of York, Councillor Sue Galloway, receives a cheque for £1,059 from Iqbal Chowdhury, of the Bengal Brasserie, his son, Abid, daughter, Farihah, and Malik Dobir
THE Bengal Brasserie, in Poppleton, York, raised more than £1,000 for the Lord Mayor and Sheriff’s chosen charities, the British Heart Foundation and Our Celebration.
General manager Iqbal Chowdhury, his son, Abid, daughter Farihah and business partner Malik Dobir presented the cheque for £1,059 to the Lord Mayor of York, Coun Sue Galloway.
The restaurant raised the money on a special curry evening, which featured entertainment from York pianist Kieran White.
Mr Chowdhury said the business had succeeded in raising a total of £21,000 for various charities over the past 15 years because of the “tremendous support” of his staff, who love raising money.
