IT expert Chris Wiggins noticed how Internet prices for DVDs dropped over time after their release.
Chris, of York, began to wonder about the trend. At what point do they stop going down? When was the right time to buy? His experimental computer programme, called pricecapture, solved the problem and is set to spark a revolution in the way people buy on the Internet.
It has also brought the 27-year-old a nomination as Young Entrepreneur in The Press Business Awards 2006, and he is bidding for the Science And Technology Business Of The Year.
The programme monitored the prices of a few hand-entered products. Using skills he had developed working at York-based Lexicle, Chris wrote a more detailed web-based version of his prototype.
Pricecapture was launched fully in May and now tracks more than a half a million products across five major online vendors.
