A WIDOWER who is raising funds for research into a devastating illness which killed his wife has embarked on a summer of activities.
The Press reported earlier this year how Michael Shepherd, 75, of Pocklington, had been helped by an army of supporters to raise more than £8,500 for research into Progressive Supranuclear Palsy (PSP), which his wife, Shirley, died from last year.
He said a recent charity stall in York’s Parliament Street had collected a “tidy sum” and helped raise awareness of the illness.
A stall would also be organised in the York Hospital on Thursday and, on Sunday, August 22, a Music For A Summer Afternoon will take place at 2pm in the Burnby Hall Rooms, Pocklington, featuring the Merrybanks Male Voice Choir, from Haxby, with a £3 entry fee on the door.
