A YORK nightclub devastated by a fire is set to reopen next week with a fire-themed relaunch.
The first, second and third floors of Club Salvation, in George Hudson Street, were damaged after a blaze broke out shortly after 4am on Saturday, when the venue was closed.
The blaze began on the first floor open-roofed smoking area, which was gutted, as were offices on the second and third floors.
Club manager Adam Cook said they had been given the all-clear yesterday to start rebuilding the affected areas.
A temporary smoking shelter will be built in place of a new permanent fixture, which Mr Cook said will take a few further weeks.
Club Salvation will officially relaunch on Thursday, with Mr Cook saying the theme will be “fire”.
He said: “We don’t want to take the whole incident of last week too seriously.
“We might as well treat it in a light-hearted manner and have a bit a laugh about it.”
He said the main part of the club on the ground floor has required cleaning, painting and some new carpets, but had escaped serious damage. The fire is thought to have cost the club’s owners thousands of pounds in damage and revenue losses.
