THERE was joy for York ‘A’ as they retained the U13 six-a-side Trophy, which is sponsored by Robson & Cooper.

Chasing 58 to beat Sheriff Hutton Bridge in the final, Toby Pratt (20 retired) and Harry Richardson (16) got them off to a good start.

Andrew Brewster then saw them home with four balls to spare with a quick fire 19, including four fours.

George Wainwright was the best Bridge bowler with 1-9. Earlier Wainwright hit 21 retired and Oliver Leadham made 13.

In the semi-finals, Sheriff Hutton Bridge had to work hard to overcome Londesborough Park.

Toby Latham made 21 and Leatham 23 to see their team home with 45.

Londesborough Park’s total of 44 came thanks to Will Stephenson’s 21 retired and Nathan Saltmer’s 16 not out.

York ‘A’ beat York ‘B’ in the last four.

‘A’ team openers Pratt and Richardson both retired on 20, but their side could only reach 48.

Matthew Maltby scored 20 retired for the ‘B’ team but they fell short at 42.

In the earlier stages, York ‘A’ headed Group ‘B’ with three wins from Sheriff Hutton Bridge, with two wins.

Thixendale and Heworth were also in that group.

Londesborough Park headed Group ‘A’, with York ‘B’ second and Dunnington third.

Meanwhile, the U11s Burn and Company Solicitors Cup final between Dunnington and Heworth, which fell victim to the weather, will now be played at Dunnington on September 5, at 2pm.
