THERE was a double reward for York’s successful under-9s and U11s North Yorkshire Youth Games girls’ football sides.
The youngsters won their sections at the Games which were held at Queen Margaret’s School at Escrick, near York – and received their medals and trophy at York City’s Bootham Crescent base.
The Games see teams from the county’s nine Schools Sports Partnerships going headto- head in a range of sports.
The U9s, coached by Paul Bird, and U11s, led by his son, Oliver, were two of only three York winners at the event.
The York representative sides act as a feeder system for the Girls’ Centre of Excellence, which is based at York College.
Several youngsters have already undergone trials.
