AN AMERICAN holidaymaker is looking forward to exploring York after winning a free sightseeing pass in a competition.
Mary Ann Hamilton, of Chicago, entered a prize draw at an exhibition in London promoting the region to visitors to the capital.
The teacher, who is also a history enthusiast, was presented with a Yorkshire Pass, souvenir guide and a T-shirt by Elaine Moss, marketing executive for Visit York.
“Mary Ann said she first wanted to visit York after reading Sharon Penman’s historical novel, The Sunne In Splendour,” said Kay Hyde, from Visit York. “Mary Ann also said she was looking forward to using the Yorkshire Pass to visit York Minster and the Richard III Museum this week.”
The Yorkshire Pass gives holders access to over 70 attractions in York and the region, and offers on restaurants, shopping and evening entertainment.
For more information on the passes, phone York Visitor Information Centre on 01904 550099, email info@yorkshirepass.com or visit yorkshirepass.com
