NO fewer than five European Tour professionals competed in The Oaks Golf Club’s popular Junior Pro-Am tournament.

Leading the way was Danny Willett, the rising talent who is coached by The Oaks Head professional Graham Walker.

Willett, Oliver Whiteley and Iain Pyman comprised the ‘Hi-Profile’ team that teed off first to challenge the other 32 teams to beat their score of 91.

Five teams did top the target, though none could touch Whiteley’s individual 43 stableford points in a round of 63 that set a new professional course record and equalled the new amateur course record achieved the day before in the Sunday medal by 16-year-old James Walker, who posted a gross 63.

The teams to surpass 91 were Bridlington Links ace Alex Belt and a team of juniors – H Hudson, J Hunt and R Wilson – with 96 to take the team prize donated by Willett; Owston Hall’s Jason Laszkowicz and A Kirby, J Illman and C Feast, also 96; Aldwark Manor’s Mike McLean and M Winterburn, N Cosgrove and A Kenny on 94; Adam Davison (Waterton Park) and O Joy, R West and T L Naylor on 94; and Lysa Jones, The Oaks senior professional, with three of her junior protégés – Megan Garland, Olivia Winning and Amelia Seels.
