A GREEN-fingered York girl has grown sunflowers up to a giant’s height in her garden.
Seven-year-old Kelsey Pateman, of Burton Stone Lane, has managed to impress neighbours with her colourful display of flowers, one of which has grown to the enormous height of 13ft 4 ins.
Kelsey planted the seeds back in March and has watered them twice a day in order for them to bloom this month.
According to mum, Michelle she has rejected computer games for the great outdoors and is always in the garden tending to her plants. She also loves to watch the Chelsea Flower show.
Mrs Pateman said: “Kelsey will do anything in the garden, including weeding and watering regularly.
“She loves to plant flowers and watch them grow and knows exactly when the tomatoes and peppers are ripe in the greenhouse.
“There are not many children who are into gardening.”
