I READ with interest the flag and pole story (The Press, August 18) and think it’s a great idea.
Not only can they advertise that it’s English Heritage, protector of York’s historic buildings, but they can also put up another flag which says: “Get off the banks, you are ruining York’s historic building by climbing on them.”
Having written to English Heritage on many occasions and having been faithfully told that the situation was in hand, I still see no improvement.
Yesterday, while on the bus heading home to Selby, there were no fewer than 16 people walking up and along the banks. Well done, English Heritage – glad to see you are protecting our history.
