I WAS pleased to read that motorists are to face a £30 fine for entering yellow boxes (The Press, October 2).
I would hope Sgt Martin Metcalfe will take a look at the two yellow boxes at each end of Gillygate because they are blocked all the time by motorists who think that it does not apply to them.
I drive in York every day with my job, and when I try to enter Gillygate from Exhibition Square I find myself stuck there because motorists sit in the yellow box. It is the same at the other end in Lord Mayor’s Walk, and if you point out to them that they are in the yellow box they usually just tell you were to go.
So good on you, Martin – keep it up.
